Team Motivation Methods for I.T.
I.T. is the industry where motivation plays major role to improve productivity. I observe that I.T. company follows different methodology to motivate their team. Some of them are organize success celebration, Lunch or Dinner with senior team members, pay additional incentives or declare employee as best performer of the month / year etc. However very few company have study of employee psychology before they roll out different motivational models.
I believe that for the optimum productivity each motivation model need to be design as per the company environment and employee psychology. Company environment is very essential to define the management role to provide constant motivation to team and employee psychology is important to justify employer’s effort towards employee motivation.
Many time top management face the situation that team is not performing even after using many different model to make team motivate & perform. They use to change hierarchy , or create/release pressure or offering more incentive but they get very less or unnoticeable result out of their efforts. Not only that sometime additional pressure also creates negative impact on employee psychology and impact outcome too.
To derive maximum motivation for employee we need to ensure that best Motivational Model get designed by HR Division. They need to keep in mind these points while designing the Motivational Model.
Culture : Indian psychology is different then American psychology, American psychology differs with European psychology so geography base culture is the basic area to analyze employee psychology. Base upon culture analysis you can understand employee mind set more closely.

Check what will bring you maximum advantage base upon psychology analysis of your team members. In IT domain we use to find that designer, developer or coder use to chose factor T as they use to spend most of Time on coding. Business Development team use to chose factor R so they can get recognized and share success. HR & Admin team use to focus on M and T factor due to their busy schedules. Management team looking for K factor as they love to enhance their skill set to next level.
Balanced Model:
Many fortune 500 companies design balanced model with futuristic advantages and employee motivation with combination. They send key people for training or knowledge share with some domain expert to enhance their capability and knowledge [K]. They also give certification [R]for training attendance and have celebration with token gifts [M], dinner & DJ [T] party to wrap up the event. This model is very poplar as its cover all factor [ MTKR ] to motivate employees.
